Which memory tier should you buy?
64GB+: start here when a smaller model and moderate context cover your workload. More RAM is not a substitute for a supported GPU runtime.
96GB+: extra space for weights, longer context and applications. Do not pay more for an older or slower system solely to reach this number.
128GB+: useful when a measured workload justifies the headroom. A 128GB system does not promise 128GB available to a model or fast large-model inference.
Filters show minimum installed memory, so a 128GB model also appears under 64GB+ and 96GB+. They are not equivalent GPU-memory tiers. The shortlist is not ordered by a synthetic score.
These recommendations are based on specifications and software compatibility, not hands-on testing. Read the memory and software notes before choosing.

Apple Silicon and AMD integrated graphics can be attractive for memory capacity, but do not assume CUDA-only software will run unchanged. A Windows laptop with a discrete NVIDIA GPU needs a separate VRAM check even if system RAM is high. Verify your exact runtime, model format and operating system before buying.
For published benchmarks, compare the same model, quantisation, context, batch size, power mode and runtime version. Prompt processing and output generation are different measurements. Use results that match the way you plan to use the machine.
